Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II Power Reserve Test

As usual after getting a watch, one of the first of many tests (such as my lume test) that I do on my replica watches is to test how long the power reserve is on my new Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II 42mm, just as I do on my other watches.

The Test

To accurately test the power reserve of any given watch, in this case my Breitling SuperOcean, I first have to make sure that the power reserve of this watch is completely full.

I did this on my Panerai and my AP by making sure that I was active on the watch on the day of the test. Similarly, I wore the Breitling all day on the day of the test, making sure to get a lot of walking and hand motion activities done such as getting groceries and the such. Then, I wound the watch at least 30 times to make sure that the power reserve is completely full.

After winding the watch, I laid the watch down in a stationary position on a flat table at 9:45 PM on the 18th.

I periodically checked up on the watch (without touching it of course) to make sure that the watch was still running especially in critical moments such as before it struck 12 in the afternoon, after it struck 12, and periodically in between. I did this to make sure that I know exactly what position the watch is in (in terms of AM and PM).

The watch finally ran out of power and stopped at 3:55 PM on the 20th.

Doing the math to find out the total power reserve comes out to be a total of 42 hours and 10 minutes:

Set the watch down at 9:45 PM on the 18th.

Watch ran out of power at 3:55 PM on the 20th.

Total Power Reserve of 42 hours and 10 minutes

How does this compare?

Comparing this to my other watches:

My AP Royal Oak 15400 has a power reserve of 45 hours and 46 minutes

My Panerai PAM 508 has a power reserve of 32 hours and 37 minutes

So overall, this watch holds up at 42 hours which is definitely better than the Panerai and great for an everyday watch to wear as it is a great sporty, but classy watch that goes with almost anything! You can wear cargo shorts and go grocery shopping with this, but can also wear this to a formal wedding.

However, compared to the authentic Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II which has a power reserve of 70 hours, this Breitling has about 60% of the power reserve capacity.

Authentic Breitling SuperOcean Heritage has a power reserve of 70 hours while this one has a power reserve of 42, about 60% of the original

The movement for this specific Breitling is an ETA 2824-2 so the power reserve does match up to what was specified by the dealer as the movement. The movement specifically has a power reserve of around 38 hours to 40 hours.

How much was this watch and where did I get it from?

I get this question a lot in terms of where I get my watches, and to summarize, I got this watch, my Rolex Milgauss, and my Panerai from the here.

I paid $388 for this watch specifically without shipping or transaction fees. Shipping fees are generally not that much, probably around $30-40 at most and I paid with Paypal so I didn’t have any transaction fees.

Lume Test: Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II

One thing that is really important to a watch is the Lume/Luminescence of the watch.

What is Watch Lume?

You might not have heard the term lume before, but it is short for luminescence. The lume of the watch is a significant component of the watch that can definitely sway someone’s opinion of the watch and be the make or break as to whether they wear the watch as a daily watch or whether they choose not to purchase it.

The watch’s lume is the glow around the watch hour and minute hands and sometimes the hour indices over the watch to make it easy to read during the night and places where there is limited sunlight.

Based on this, some of the most important characteristics of the lume is the particular brightness of the lume and how easily readable when it is needed.

However, lume does not last forever as it decays over time so another important characteristic of watch lume is how fast it decays and if it will be able to last all night so you can wake up in the middle of the night and check what time it is easily.

How to Charge Lume

For most watches, the lume on the watch consists of photoluminescent material (like strontium aluminate) which is typically charged during sunlight by absorbing light and then re-emits that light. This lume could be either green (most common), blue, or some other specialized color depending on the watch and the specific materials being used.

Testing the Watch Lume

Now that we have discussed the basics of the watch lume, lets talk about the specific test that I created to get a better idea of the lume on my Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II.

Even though charging the lume is usually done through the sun and in regular daylight, that is not precise enough and it is quite erratic in terms of quality depending on the time left in the sun. To make things even more complicated, if I charged it while it was still daylight out, I couldn’t really get a good picture of the lume of the watch since it is hard to find a dark room.

So to tackle this issue, I used a UV Flashlight to charge the lume on the watch. If you aren’t aware of this technique, UV flashlights generally with a range of below 400nm wavelengths do a great job to charge the lume on the watch extremely fast and I find it to generally last longer than traditional fluorescent lights to charge the lume (any significant source of light will charge lume, but sun is the best source).

I bought my specific UV flashlight from Amazon, but feel free to look for the cheapest type of UV Flashlight you can find.

I didn’t really have a specific reason I bought that specific flashlight aside from the fact that it had a good number of reviews and seemed larger and more powerful than some of the other very cheap ones without jumping into the higher end more pricey ones.

I used the UV flashlight directly on the face of the watch for 30 seconds which lights up the lume on the watch like a sun and then I turned off the lights to see how the lume looks at night.

Then, I tested how long the lume lasts until it is barely noticeable. Watch the video embedded above for the entire video, but here are the specific important timestamps.

You can see the drastic change in the lume amount and how quickly it decays. After about a minute it gets to about regular lume amount where it is easily readible in the dark. However, after about 10 minutes, it does get fairly difficult to read the watch at night especially in a pitch black room.

Unfortunately, the battery of my camera ran out after 43 minutes, but as you can see, the majority of the lume decays after 30 minutes.

Panerai PAM 508 Luminor Submersible Ceramica 3 Days Replica Review

After wearing the Panerai PAM 508 for quite a significant amount of time, over 6 months, I wanted to give a detailed review of what I think of the watch and how it compares with the original.

This watch was the second replica watch purchase I made after purchasing a budget AP 15400 replica and for this watch, I tried to do more due diligence and get a higher quality version, but this version was on special so I thought I would try it out.

Looks

First and foremost, lets start off with the overall looks of the watch. So from a reasonable distance, the watch looks really good and looks on par with the authentic version. There is nothing major that strikes it off as being a replica. The case looks good, the overall layout and wordings look perfect.

Even the weight of the watch is on point (which by the way is really heavy, the watch feels like you are wearing at least one pound on your wrist).

But, when you get closer, there is one major quirk that is a quick tell that this is a replica, and that is the orange tick marks on the ceramic case between 12 o clock and 3 o clock.

The ticks are properly located and seperated. However, there is this gray shadow around the ticks which makes it an easy tell when up close. Take a look at this picture up close to see if you can see the outline of the ticks.

Compare this with the authentic which looks like:

You can clearly see that in the authentic version, there is no outline surrounding the tick marks which makes it an easy tell up close.

It is also quite annoying to look at as well as it shows up in pictures. Basically, it can’t be unseen, once you notice it, you will start noticing it more and more.

But other than that, there is nothing else that tips off this being a replica. The overall writing looks good, the whole watch itself looks pretty good

The swiss made looks good and everything else lines up well. Of coarse I have been wearing my watch for quite a long time now so the black doesn’t look as polished, but I’m sure that could be fixed. If you have any suggestions on how to make it pop out like the authentic picture, let me know in the comments below!

Ceramic Case

This leads us to talk about the ceramic casing of this watch. So ceramic watches are supposed to be more resilient to scratches as compared with regular watches.

However, for this watch (you might be able to see in the pictures or I highlight it in the video), the watch suddenly had this weird white scratch looking thing at the 7 o clock position.

So that is pretty disappointing as well, I was pretty excited about trying a ceramic watch, but since it scratched kind of easily, I would go for a higher tier ceramic watch next time.

And quite honestly, I made the scratch a bit worse which is why the watch has this lighter discoloration at the 7 o clock position since I tried removing the scratch with Windex, water, and even tried removing it with a light eraser but it only made it worse.

Movement and Power Reserve

In terms of the movement and its smoothness, the movement is incredibly smooth and I have no complaints.

I actually don’t know what the actual movement of the watch is, but I know its 28,800 vph which is smooth and since the seconds hand is smaller, it looks incredibly smooth and exactly the same as the authentic.

However, one thing that is disappointing is the power reserve of the watch.

I tested the power reserve and found out that it is a maximum of 32 hours and 37 minutes when compared with the original power reserve of 72 hours.

That is quite low, but since I wear this watch as my daily beater, I don’t have any problems but it is still inconvenient if I don’t wear my watch as much throughout the day or if I don’t wear it during the weekend then it will be stopped and I will have to set it again.

Accessories

I would say one of the best parts about this watch is that since it was on special, it came with two watch straps, one rubber and one leather watch strap and I highlighted them in the unboxing video I did for this watch.

Both of these straps are honestly amazing and exactly 1:1. I couldn’t find a single flaw with these watch straps.

The buckle, the engravings, everything waas great.

The only reason I don’t wear the watch straps is because both of them were really thick and since I have thing wrists, they made this watch stand out even more so it just looked terrible, but if I had bigger arms, then I would rock these straps no problem.

Testing Power Reserve of Panerai PAM 508 Replica

Just like how I tested the power reserve of the AP 15400, I also wanted to test the power reserve of the PAM 508 to see how it compares with the original.

Similar to how I tested the AP, I tested the Panerai in a similar manner:

The Test

To accurately test the power reserve of the PAM508, I wanted to make sure that it has a full power reserve before setting it down.

I wasn’t as active as I was previously when making this video as I was when doing the test for the AP. But to compensate for this, I wound the watch more than 30 times to ensure that the watch was on a full power reserve.

After winding the watch and shaking it around a lot, I laid the watch down at a flat table at 5:28PM on the 9th.

I then made sure to check up on the watch without moving it to ensure it was still working especially at crucial times such as before 12 o clock, before the date changes, and before noon and after noon.

The watch finally ran out of power at 2:05AM on the 11th.

So doing the math on that, that is a total of 32 hours and 37 minutes.

Set the watch down at 5:28pm on the 9th.

Watch ran out of power at 2:05AM on the 11th

Total Power Reserve of 32 hours and 37 minutes

How does it stack up

A power reserve of 32 hours and 37 minutes it is significantly less than the power reserve of the AP which is disappointing since the original PAM 508 has a higher power reserve.

A power reserve of 32 hours means you can only leave this watch off your wrist for one day before it starts stopping on you by the second day. This is fine for me because I wear this watch as my daily beater, but that is something for you to take into consideration.

The authentic Panerai PAM508 has a power reserve of 3 days (72 hours) which means that this watch has a power reserve of about half the original.

Authentic Panerai PAM508 has a power reserve of 72 hours so this is about half of the original

That is kind of a let down since I was expecting higher.

Panerai PAM 508 P Luminor Submersible Ceramica Replica Unboxing

After getting a budget replica AP (see the review here and the unboxing here), I wanted to get something a little more low-key, which led me to order the Panerai PAM 508.

Check out the video to see the whole unboxing experience of the watch and a glimpse of the watch.

Unfortunately, just like most replica watches, I didn’t order the Panerai watch box with it so it came packaged with the watch itself and some accessories.

The watch came well protected and came with two bonus straps: one rubber Panerai strap and one leather Panerai strap and both of them look pretty incredible. The watch also came with two watch pouches.

Check out the final review of this watch here and a video of me testing the power reserve of this watch.

Audemars Piguet AP 15400 Royal Oak Replica TF V2 Review

I wanted to finally give my overall review of the Audemars Piguet AP 15400 Royal Oak, the V2 version from the TF factory.

I have been wearing this watch for a long time now, like 3-4 months since I initially made the video and now it is more like 9 months so I have a pretty good idea of this watch and the quirks of the watch.

This was my first replica watch purchase after delving and beginning to research replica watches and figuring things out. I documented my whole experience of getting the watch by doing an unboxing video and testing the power reserve of this watch to see how it compares with the original.

So let’s get right into it:

Movement

First thing’s first, let’s talk about the movement. The movement for this watch is the Miyota 9015 which is a solid movement that has a good smooth sweeping motion, is reputable, and on par with the ETA 2824-2.

The movement has a vph (vibrations per hour) of 28,800 which is pretty solid when talking about automatic watches. So the higher the vph, the more smooth the sweeping motion, however, the higher the number, the more complicated it is and the faster it will break down so there is a tradeoff between the higher numbers and 28,800 is a good middle ground.

Comparing this with the original AP 15400 Royal Oak, which has a vph of 21,600, that means this replica theoretically has a smoother sweeping motion than the actual AP. The difference between the two movements isn’t too substantial so around 99.9% of the people would not be able to tell the difference between the two vphs’.

Movement is a solid Miyota 9015 with a vph of 28,800 resulting in a smooth sweeping motion

Looks

Now let’s talk about a second really important factor: the looks and how it compares with the original.

In terms of the looks from afar, the watch seems to be on par with the original. It looks very close to the original design, the octagonal screws all seem to be looking nice, and best of all, the iconic AP bracelet makes its presence gleaming that shine ever so brightly.

The best part of this watch is definitely the bracelet as it has this amazing shine whenever any light (especially sunlight) hits it and it gives it this amazing effect! Check out my Instagram if you want to see some videos of the bracelet.

However, as you get closer, the details start to get a bit clearer and the flaws start creeping out.

One of the most noticeable flaws is that one of the markers on the 12 marker (one of the two “I”‘s) is on a different height and not properly placed. This might seem like a small flaw, but since the marker is white and sunshine or light easily reflects it, it makes it pretty obvious for anyone inspecting the watch. This is because the light bounces differently since the two markers are on different heights.

Another big flaw is that the AP logo on the crown is misaligned and not centered. This is also a pretty obvious flaw for anyone that checks the crown and is honestly just frustrating to look at whenever correcting the watch’s time.

Finally, the biggest flaw, is that after a month or so, one of the octagonal screws located in the 7 o clock position, came loose and now pops out a little bit and is not perpendicular to the center of the watch. As you probably know, each of the octagonal screws is supposed to be perpendicular to the center of the watch. This flaw is shown near the end of the video.

So overall, for looks, from afar it might not look too bad, but even from a reasonable distance you can see if one of the screws is not perpendicular to the watch or if it eventually goes missing (it hasn’t happened yet thankfully). Also, the other flaws such as the 12 marker being misaligned can also be seen easily since the light reflection can be seen easily. The final flaw of the AP logo being misalinged on the crown is only seen in close inspection, but it is pretty annoying.

May look good at a reasonable distance, but some big flaws such as the screw being loose and not perpendicular and the 12 marker being misaligned make it easy tells

Cost

I got this on sale at one of the trusted dealer sites for $200 without shipping so the total was around ~240-250 with shipping and transaction costs.

But because of the flaws that I saw, I do not recommend the dealer that I originally got it from because I noticed the misaligned logo on the crown and the misaligned 12 marker and complained to the dealer, but they said since QC pictures were sent and approved, he couldn’t do anything. However, in the pictures, it is very hard to tell and was kind of hidden so I felt like he was being a bit dishonest.

Would I get this specific watch again, I would definitely get the AP 15400 again, but I would only go for the V2J version or the V3 version from the JF factory.
